Luxembourg and China to expand ties

January 29th, 2008 by admin

Chinese Vice Premier Zeng Peiyan has met with Luxembourg Deputy Prime Minister for Foreign Affairs and Immigration, Jean Asselborn.

Zeng says the two countries have maintained good relations over the last 35 years of diplomoatic ties. He hopes to maintain close ties with Luxembourg especially in finance, the steel industry, and satellite communications, as well as expand cooperation in other areas.

Asselborn noted the development of bilateral ties and touted China’s role in the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and other international issues. He also repeated Luxembourg’s long-standing support of the one-China policy.

Zeng is on three-nation tour of Europe. The government of Luxembourg will always adhere to the one-China policy and is against Taiwan’s referendum on its bid for UN membership, he stressed.
