Mahboob favourite in Luxembourg race. A TRIO of Bahrain’s top long-distance runners are scheduled to compete tomorrow in separate events in Europe and Asia.

Asian Games champion Hassan Mahboob is set to run in the ‘38th Diekirch Eurocross’ meeting in Luxembourg, while marathoners Abdulhak Zakariya and Khalid Kamal Yaseen are set to compete in the 11th Asian Marathon Championships in Hong Kong.

Mahboob has been named as one of the favourites for his event by race organisers.

His main challenger is expected to be Austrian steeplechaser Gunther Weidlinger.

Other contenders are Khoudir Aggoune from Algeria, Mourad Maaroufit from Morocco and James Kosgei Cheruiyot from Kenya.
